[haw-info] August 26 Day of Action in Support of Iran Agreement

The Congressional vote on the Iran Nuclear Agreement is likely to be one of the most consequential decisions since the 2002 Authorization for the Use of Force Against Iraq.

It is almost certain that Congress will pass a resolution of disapproval in mid-September. The President will then veto that measure. The real fight will be whether or not to override that veto. Republicans are so far universally determined to vote for an override. Democrats who would normally line up behind an agreement negotiated by the White House are facing a multi-million campaign by AIPAC and other right-wing supporters of the Netanyahu government to defeat the accord.

Right now every vote counts. The demonstrations being held outside Congressional offices on Wednesday August 26 are being coordinated by Move-On and scores of National and grass-roots organizations across the country. These demonstrations really matter

There are now more than 200 events scheduled around the country on Wednesday August 26 National Day of Action. You can join an existing event or offer to host one of your own by going to this site:

Please forward widely.

By September 17th, Congress is expected to express approval or disapproval of the deal. The survival of the agreement is at stake. Rejecting the deal could drive Iran towards a nuclear weapon and the U.S. towards war with Iran.

The highest priority right now is getting calls and emails of support to undecided members of Congress. To contact your member of Congress to express your support for the deal, click the button below.

[haw-info] Urgent need for grassroots support of Iran nuclear agreement

The vote on the Iran nuclear agreement is likely to be very close. And millions of dollars are being spent by Republican and pro-Netanyahu lobbyists to defeat this important initiative. United for Peace and Justice, Historians Against the War, CREDO. Move-On, along with many other national peace organizations are supporting this August 26 Day of Action at Congressional offices. Please consider joining or if none is scheduled for your area, consider being a host.

It cannot be assumed that liberal members of Congress, who normally favor diplomacy are going to be reliable on this issue.

.**Note( just sign in your zip code and ignore the error message)

No War with Iran action

Diplomacy or war. That's the choice facing Congress when it comes to the nuclear deal with Iran.
But unfortunately, too many members of Congress want to block this historic deal—and put on us on a path to another senseless war. President Obama is standing strong, and we need to make sure Congress stands with him.

That's why on Wednesday, August 26, members of MoveOn, WinWithoutWar, Democracy for America, Credo, and many others will gather outside of Congressional offices across the country in support of diplomacy over war. It's critical to show members of Congress that Americans support diplomacy with Iran, and that we conside a vote against the deal a vote for war. Host your own No War with Iran action or sign up for an event near you to join this historic day of action..
