[haw-info] August 26 Day of Action in Support of Iran Agreement
The Congressional vote on the Iran Nuclear Agreement is likely to be one of the most consequential decisions since the 2002 Authorization for the Use of Force Against Iraq.
It is almost certain that Congress will pass a resolution of disapproval in mid-September. The President will then veto that measure. The real fight will be whether or not to override that veto. Republicans are so far universally determined to vote for an override. Democrats who would normally line up behind an agreement negotiated by the White House are facing a multi-million campaign by AIPAC and other right-wing supporters of the Netanyahu government to defeat the accord.
Right now every vote counts. The demonstrations being held outside Congressional offices on Wednesday August 26 are being coordinated by Move-On and scores of National and grass-roots organizations across the country. These demonstrations really matter
