[haw-info] Join the HAW (Historians Against War) contingent at Saturday's March in NYC!

Dear members and friends of HAW,

Donald Trump has called for a new nuclear arms race and America "winning" wars again.  He has appointed a slew of militarists to top offices, and endorsed sweeping attacks on basic civil liberties in the name of fighting terrorism. He mocks human rights and human decency, and consorts with anti-Semites and white supremacists.  He is a threat to the people of the world, and to every person living in the United States.

We need a new antiwar movement to confront Trump, and New York City is a good place to start.  Just as we challenged George W. Bush's drive to invade Iraq on February 15, 2003, we call on New Yorkers to turn out on Saturday, January 21, 2017.  Specifically, if you are a historian, a scholar or teacher, or just a historically-minded activist, we invite you to join the HAW Contingent of the Women's March in New York.  We will gather at the southwest corner of 45th Street and Second Avenue, at 12:30 pm to march south from Dag Hammarskoljd Plaza.

We will have two HAW banners, but also bring signs—send a message to Trump and his warmakers that New Yorkers (and historians) are ready to fight for peace and justice!

Van Gosse, for HAW
